Earlier today, Florida Governor Rick Scott released his FY15 budget recommendations. Audubon joins other groups in advocating for increases for the Everglades, Florida Forever, the Rural and Family Lands program, and protection of water resources including springs. An initial review of Scott’s budget shows increases for the Everglades, Florida Forever, and springs protection. The budget also asks for $50 million for Florida Keys wastewater improvements, which will help Florida Bay and the reefs.

“With the economy rebounding it is time to put more of the state’s budget into protecting land and water,” said Eric Draper, executive director of Audubon Florida. “Governor Scott’s recommendations move funding in the right direction.”
