Audubon Center for Birds of Prey: Volunteer!

Join our group of dedicated individuals caring for Florida raptors and educating our visitors. Volunteers come from all walks of life, such as students, teachers, and retirees. There are volunteer opportunities for individuals or groups, on a regular or occasional basis.

Volunteers allow an Audubon Center to accomplish much more and in a shorter amount of time than it could afford to do with staff alone. Volunteers contribute enough hours annually to pay 9 full time staff members and are essential to the continued success of our center.

At Audubon Center for Birds of Prey, we are flexible. We strive to find the best fit for each individual based on their interests and skills. The volunteer program is diverse, with a variety of service positions and training including but not limited to greeters, feeders, docents and interns.

For more information, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator via email, or call the Center at 407-644-0190 Ext. 101.

Upcoming Volunteer Training Opportunities:

Tour Training
Become a tour guide and learn to lead groups of all ages at the center. Share with others the amazing majesty of Florida’s raptors. Engage guests in conservation in Florida. Training includes attending two classes, then shadowing and co-leading tours until you feel comfortable leading a group on your own. Much of the information will be for you to take home and study at your own pace. Registration is required. Contact Lynne at 407-644-0190.

Training classes will include the following:

  • Basic bird biology
  • Basic information on natural history of species at the center
  • Personal stories of birds at the center
  • History of Audubon including Audubon of Florida
  • History of the Center
