Audubon Applauds the Proposed Tamiami Trail Next Steps Plan

In a statement released today by Audubon of Florida, Senior Everglades Policy Associate Julie Hill-Gabriel responds to the news of the federal government's pledge of additional support to construct new bridgework on the Tamiami Trail:

Audubon applauds the release of the Tamiami Trail Next Steps plan to construct additional bridges along the road that borders Everglades National Park. Thanks go out to all of our members who wrote letters, submitted comments and attended meetings to support this proposal. With a one mile bridge underway, the decision by the National Park Service and the U.S. Department of the Interior to bridge an additional 5.5 miles will help reconnect freshwater flows that are so important to improving wildlife habitat.
