Florida State Park to be Renamed After Wes Skiles

On November 16th, the Florida State Park system will officially rename Peacock Springs State Park in Live Oak, Florida after the late underwater cave explorer, Wes Skiles. At the 2010 Audubon Assembly, the Skiles family accepted an award on behalf of Wes for his incredible and inspirational work helping protect these underwater places that make Florida special. His exploratory and photographic work have gone a long way in helping scientists and citizens understand the expansive Floridan aquifer.  The park's new official name will be Wes Skiles Peacock Spring State Park.

The name changing ceremony will take place at 11am tomorrow morning.  It is a lasting tribute to an extraordinary Floridian.
