Honor the Everglades on April 7

April 7, 2012 marks the 122nd birthday anniversary of Marjory Stoneman Douglas – the remarkable legend of the Everglades. Her most famous book, The Everglades: River of Grass inspired a nation to protect and conserve our one-of-a-kind ecosystem.

Over the decades, Audubon Florida has been one of the leading voices for conservation in the Everglades. From the great rivers and lakes of Central Florida to the blue expanse of Florida Bay, our dedicated team of scientists and policy professionals are working to ensure that the best interests of our state’s wildlife and wildplaces are protected.

Each day our staff looks to carry on the conservation tradition of leaders such as Marjory Stoneman Douglas. Without your contribution right now, the voices of our critical Everglades advocates are in danger of going silent.

On this special occasion, please consider making a $25, $50, or $100 contribution to Audubon Florida so that we may continue protect the River of Grass for generations to come.

Marjory Stoneman Douglas famously wrote, “There are no other Everglades in the world. They are, they always have been, one of the unique regions of the earth, remote, never wholly known.

This is our cause.
