Sarasota County Board of Commissioner's Jon Thaxton presented to the Venice Area Audubon Society a plaque (on their behalf) as an "Award of Gratitude" on December 6 at Board of Commissioner meeting. This plaque reads:

"This commendation is bestowed upon the Venice Area Audubon Society as a symbol of our grateful recognition of your commitment to Sarasota County and for volunteer work performed at the Venice Rookery. "
