Honor Roll of Donors

Over the next forty days we are counting on supporters to help us raise over $40,000. Florida is falling behind on Everglades restoration.

The following donors have pledged support to Audubon to fund the science and policy work needed to keep restoration moving forward and to make sure restoration is done right!

Why I support Audubon’s work on Everglades Restoration by Carol Timmis

Years ago, I went with friends on my first trip to the Everglades. We took three trips out on the water, paddled a canoe into alligator territory, took an airboat into the grassy rivers and sailed at sunset.

I asked the captain of the sailboat who was doing the best, most creative work to preserve the Everglades and without any hesitation he named Audubon. It wasn't the first organization that had come to my mind, but as I thought about it - it made all the sense in the world. Preserve the habitat, first and foremost.

I researched the suggestion and I have been supporting Audubon Florida ever since. I have been to the Everglades several times since then and each time I discover more problems and come away with the belief tha tAudubon will help provide the solutions. We just have to continue to work together to make that happen!

Why I support Audubon’s work on Everglades Restoration by Jud Laird

My interest in water management led me to the Audubon Everglades Policy team. Three dynamic women, based out of the Miami office, directed by CEO Eric Draper, are at the forefront of many Everglades conservation issues – appearing before the SFWMD, Congress, local governments and other influential groups.

Audubon’s philosophy is to use sound science to develop strategic policies that are then shared with key decision-makers, the media and the public. They have led the charge on major Everglades restoration issues from bridging Tamiami Trail to free water flow to Florida Bay to partnering with ranchers in the Northern Everglades storing and treating water on their working lands.

I have seen Audubon at work – this is why I was the first to support the Everglades Restoration Back to Work campaign!
