Audubon and the Big “O” Birding Festival

On April 3-6, the City of Clewiston hosted the annual Big “O” Birding Festival.  Dr. Paul Gray, Audubon’s Lake Okeechobee Science Coordinator, led several birding tours around Lake O, Fisheating Creek and Harney Pond Canal.  Much to the delight of all tour participants, each group identified: 47, 41 and 58 avian species, respectively.

Additionally, Margaret England, of Hendry-Glades Audubon, lead tours to STA 5, and Paul, Margaret and  Pete Quasius, of Audubon of Southwest Florida, all helped with festival planning.  It was a beautiful weekend in Clewiston and we all look forward to next year’s event!
