The Legislature is holding hostage bills that would adopt emissions standards for cars and light trucks to reduce the greenhouse gases.

The Legislature has refused to adopt clean pollution standards used in a dozen other states. As a result cleaner, greener vehicles are not available here. Shoppers interested in high fuel economy and improved pollution controls either have to shop elsewhere or live with limited choices.

Rather than shutting down Florida’s car market to the greenest and cleanest vehicles, Legislators should listen to Floridians and pass Sen. Constantine’s and Rep. Rader’s legislation to adopt clean car rules during this Session. That would really provide an opportunity for Florida and its residents.
