CERP Partners Get Close to Finalizing Important Agreement

The Federal and State partners have finally “agreed” to cost-sharing terms that will enable stalled Everglades restoration projects to receive federal funding. Once the funding is released for use, construction on several important projects may proceed. The cost-sharing terms will be captured in a “Master Agreement”, which is expected to be signed by both the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the South Florida Water Management District by the end of August. The details, of how the costs would be shared, have been a contentious issue for many years. Audubon is pleased that the partners have worked out these issues so that projects can move forward to restore the Everglades.
