Florida's Special Places: Lake Woodruff National Wildlife Refuge

Arnette from West Volusia Audubon Society sends in this nominee for Florida's Special Places - Lake Woodruff National Wildlife Refuge, established in 1964. You can nominate your favorite natural places in Florida by visiting the Florida's Special Places Facebook Page and uploading your photos, videos and short narratives about why this particular Florida spot is important to you and your community. Thanks Arnette! Enjoy:

Lake Woodruff National Wildlife Refuge in DeLeon Springs is one of my special places that I found when I moved to Florida in 1977. It so peaceful and it feels like you are going back in time when you walk the dikes there. It has many special critters & birds and I have seen otters, bobcat, many bird species and even a pair of Whooping Cranes a few years ago. West Volusia Audubon Society has also made it their special place where we built the Audubon Lookout and feature Sunday walks in the winter.
