Going Birding in the Panhandle? Let Choctawhatchee Audubon show you around

Recognizing the limited opportunity visitors and residents have to observe and interact with local birdlife, Choctawhatchee Audubon Society has prepared a local supplement to the Florida Birding Trails. Ten sites were identified within Okaloosa County and described with respect to habitat, accessibility and characteristic species of birds. These are many of the sites that are visited in conjunction with spring, fall and winter bird counts. Funding of $600 was secured from the County Tourist Development Council (TDC) for the design of and the artwork to be included in the color brochure. A 2x2 ft poster was made, framed and hung in the TDC foyer. Additional funds from the Thelma Phillips’ memorial were used to print 2500 brochures. Brochures are being distributed around the county and are available for download from the chapter's website. Sites are being surveyed for a second brochure to cover Walton County.
