Seven people were arrested in Collier County for killing protected bird species.  Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) officers found 21 dead birds at the scene, including a protected White Ibis and Blue Heron, as well as Tree Swallows and Comorants, protected under the federal Migratory Bird Treaty Act. Such a truly despicable act should not go unpunished and we can only hope that the authorities set a just punishment and help to prevent crimes of this nature in the future.  Article available at the Charlotte Sun.
