Update on Adena Springs Ranch - January 2013

Audubon Florida has endorsed comments to the St. Johns River Water Management District provided by John Thomas, attorneys for longtime Audubon Members Karen Ahlers and Jeri Baldwin. See original letters:

Shortly after attorney Thomas’ letter was received, the St. Johns River Water Management District issued a new “request for additional information” and delayed further processing of the permit until May 11, 2013. Environmental groups and citizens in the Silver Springs area are making significant headway against the massive “Adena Springs Ranch” development and the questions posed by the water management district are getting harder and harder for the applicant to answer.

Update on Adena Springs Ranch permit application:

St. Johns River Water Management District staff on Jan. 11, 2013, determined that additional technical information is needed regarding the Adena Springs Ranch consumptive use permit application to withdraw 5.3 million gallons of water per day in Marion County. District staff sent a Request for Additional Information (RAI) letter to the applicant.

The applicant has until May 11, 2013, to respond to the RAI or to request an extension to their response time frame.

When the application is considered complete, District staff will determine if the requested allocation of water meets District permitting criteria.

Additional information about the permit application is available on the District’s Adena Springs CUP application web page.
