We Won! Thank you for Supporting Broward County's New Water Conservation Ordinance

Your e-mails helped support Broward County Commissioners to decide in favor of conserving our freshwater.

Yesterday, the Commission unanimously approved a county-wide two day-a-week landscape irrigation ordinance.  This important water conservation measure permits Broward residents to water their lawns two days-a-week and makes permanent the watering restrictions that were imposed by the South Florida Water Management District as a result of our region's record-low water levels over the past few years.

The reduction of landscape irrigation is just one facet in the development of a robust set of water conservation initiatives throughout Florida.  These initiatives will help in establishing a sustainable water supply for urban communities and a reliable source of freshwater for Florida's important natural areas, such as the Everglades.

Audubon of Florida and South Florida Audubon Society in Broward submitted a letter to the Commission in support of the water conservation ordinance in advance of the meeting.

Audubon appreciates the support you provided to approve this important initiative and we will continue to reach out to other local governments to implement similar water conservation ordinances in the future.
