Audubon of Florida congratulates Tommy Strowd for his appointment as Interim Executive Director of the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD). Mr. Strowd previously was the SFWMD’s Deputy Executive Director of Operations and Maintenance Resources. He was also the Accerler8 Program Director, a program which would have fast-tracked major Everglades restoration projects under the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan.

Strowd replaces Carol Wehle, the first woman to serve as Executive Director in any of Florida’s water management districts. Wehle retires on April 29th after a decade at the SFWMD, the last six years as Executive Director. Audubon of Florida had a good working relationship with Ms. Wehle and wishes her the best in her future endeavors.
