The Sarasota Audubon Nature Center is located in the heart of the Celery Fields, a national and international destination on the Great Florida Birding Trail. More than 250 species of birds have been recorded in the 440-acre Celery Fields, Sarasota County’s primary stormwater collection zone.
The Nature Center is LEED Gold certified and provides visitors with education, tools, and information to help them appreciate the birds and wildlife of the Celery Fields. Visitors can find printed and digital guides for birding and wildlife viewing in the area. The Center also has a children’s learning area, a gazebo for viewing birds, native plant gardens, and a gift shop with nature-themed gifts, books, and cards. The Center has rotating displays of award-winning nature and bird photography, as well as information on sustainability. Visitors can also borrow binoculars.
Natural trails lead visitors from the Nature Center into the Celery Fields. To the south, Sarasota Audubon Bird Naturalists staff two boardwalks with telescopes and binoculars to enhance the visitor’s birding experience. To the north, visitors can follow the trail up the hill and catch a 360-degree view of the wetlands and surrounding area.
Sarasota Audubon Society is dedicated
