Gov. Crist Urged to Veto SB 360

Yesterday we sent out an Advocate urging our members to contact Gov. Crist to voice concern over the ramifications of SB 360 and to urge him to veto the bill.  Here is just one of many newspaper articles to be published on the issue in the next day or so.

Environmentalists across the state are urging Gov. Charlie Crist to veto a newly passed growth management bill that was sponsored by state Sen. Mike Bennett, R-Bradenton.

The bill would promote urban sprawl, cause traffic congestion and contribute to climate change, said Charles Pattison, president of the environmental group, 1000 Friends of Florida, in a letter to Crist.

The bill, CS/CS/SB 360, would exempt many outlying as well as urban areas from a requirement to have adequate roads and other transportation necessities in place before development can occur.
