Tallahassee, FL (March 23, 2016) –This month, Audubon Florida announced the promotion of Julie Wraithmell to the position of Deputy Executive Director. In the last 10 years with Audubon, Julie helped Audubon Florida return to its roots by strengthening its bird conservation leadership. Most notably, Julie led Florida’s state-based efforts to respond to the Gulf oil spill and built an impressive program of coastal citizen science, stewardship, and advocacy.
“Julie is a tireless advocate for Florida’s birds and wildlife,” said Eric Draper, Executive Director. “Now in her role as Deputy Director, Julie will also focus on expanding Florida’s science capacity and on-the-ground work to conserve the places and species of utmost importance throughout the state.”
Previously, Julie was Audubon Florida’s Director of Wildlife Conservation. She has a BS degree in biology from Duke University and an MS from Florida State University.
“I’m grateful for this opportunity to work for Florida on a statewide scale,” said Wraithmell, “alongside so many dedicated staff members, Audubon chapter leaders, and advocates.”
Audubon Florida is the state’s oldest wildlife conservation organization, with more than 115 years of on-the-ground conservation and advocacy driven by sound science.
